This free creative workshop is aimed at individuals and businesses who have set up in Croydon to meet and discuss;
● Can we work together to create a better town centre?
● What’s missing? What needs keeping?
● How can we retain and build a sense of community and belonging?
● How could we solve any problems?

While speaking and listening, we’ll work with clay to imagine how we can make the town centre a more welcoming environment with memorable places and spaces for everyone to enjoy.

We’ll start with marking out the places which already exist which we want to keep, and expand from there to think of what could be added and what we feel is needed.

We’ll then start to imagine what spaces would help provide that structure for the local community and what spaces could be created throughout the town centre. How can we work together and learn from each other to build a better place for us and the next generation?

This workshop builds on Lina’s first workshop Roots & Routes; Setting Up in Croydon, but you don’t have to have attended to take part this time. In that workshop, we explored what brought people - individual incoming communities and businesses - to set up in Croydon town centre (the routes that brought us here), and what gave them a sense of belonging (the roots we’ve laid down). If you have any thoughts ahead of the workshop on your current experiences of the town centre you’d like us to feed in, please email us.

The workshop will be followed by a final workshop testing out and challenging the ideas put forward by We Made That and Croydon Council.

Free and open to all; please click through to the Eventbrite page to book a free space so we know how many people to expect!

Croydon Council is creating a new strategy to underpin the regeneration programmes being planned for the town centre. Croydon’s community groups, residents and businesses will be key to shaping Croydon’s vision.

A multi-disciplinary team led by consultants We Made That, experts in urban strategy, design and infrastructure, has been appointed to create a varied programme of community-led activities where participants will be able to influence the vision and strategy.

A programme of workshops to explore the future of Croydon town centre offers residents, businesses and partners the opportunity to get involved.
